Taliban say waiting for US to fulfill promises

KARACHI: Senior Taliban leader Mulla Hassan Rehmani on Saturday ruled out any possibility of holding talks with the government of Hamid Karzai in the presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan. In an exclusive interview with Geo News, the Taliban leader and former Kandahar governor said that the dialogue process, which was to begin after opening of militia’s political office in Qatar was stalled due to objections over the Taliban’s flag and banner. “There are no talks taking place between Taliban and US and Qatar office has been closed,” Rehmani said. He added that the Taliban will inform the US about their concerns and demands. Rehmani said that talks will resume with the US if Taliban’s demands were met. “ We are waiting for US to fulfill its promises,” he said. He also rejected the impression that the Taliban were against the women education.” We never said women should be confined in their houses,” the Taliban leader said adding that they wanted to forge better relationship with other countries of the world.
