“Numerous casualties” are reported after a police helicopter crashed into the roof of a crowded pub in Scotland.
The incident happened at 10.25 pm on Friday at Clutha Vaults on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow.
Police Scotland have confirmed that three people were on board. Around 120 people
were believed to have been inside when the craft is said to have “fallen like a stone” on the crowded pub.
Although the number of casualties is not yet known, First Minister Alex Salmond tweeted that, given the scale of the incident: “We must all prepare ourselves for the likelihood of fatalities”
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Lewis Ramsay said the injured were taken to hospital adding: “you can imagine the condition they were in”.
Some 125 officers from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are on the scene, including a specialist urban search and rescue crew, as it is thought people are still trapped inside.
