NASCAR told its competitors Thursday it is considering eliminating single-car qualifying next season in an overhaul that would likely implement road course-style qualifying at all but two tracks. Drivers from all three national series met with top NASCAR officials for almost two hours at the R&D Center in Concord to discuss several different ideas under consideration for 2014. Tharp told The Associated Press :'It's not written in stone at this point in time'. The number of groups, and the number of cars in each, depended on the number of cars that practiced for the event.
Peyton Manning returned to practice Thursday, after the Denver Broncos held him out a day earlier because of a minor ankle injury. Joining Manning on the practice field was right tackle Orlando Franklin, who missed last week's game with a sprained left ankle. Manning would certainly welcome the return of Franklin to the lineup against Washington on Sunday. Manning was one of eight starters who skipped Wednesday's workout, most of whom returned Thursday.
Over the next couple of years, Ken Block will serve as 'Racing Advisor' to the Need For Speed franchise, lending his unique motorsport insights to help boost interest in the games and upcoming movie. In return for Block's services, Need for Speed will sponsor him and his Ford Fiesta ST race car for Gymkhana Six. Gymkhana Six will be released in its entirety November 11, and is expected to once again raise the bar for what can be achieved behind-the-wheel of a car. It goes on sale worldwide just one week later and will be available for PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
