Army seeks polling scheme for by-polls from ECP

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army has sought polling scheme for the by-elections from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to decide about deployment of troops during polls, Geo News reported Tuesday. According to sources, a meeting was held between ECP and Army officials to review matters pertaining to army deployment during the by-elections. Sources also told that the polling scheme for by-elections will be provided to the Army in the next two days. After the provision of the scheme, it will be decided if Army personnel need to be stationed during polling on August 22. On the other hand, the ECP called for the report on flood-hit polling stations and the flood situation in all those constituencies where by-polls are to be held. By-polls will be held on August 22 in 42 national and provincial assemblies constituencies across the country. ECP has directed the returning officers to make out the lists of polling stations where polling schedule needs any changes.
